“THE BLACK EXPERIENCE” returns to Burlington, spotlighting Black history, leadership, and creativity across Vermont.
The Flynn Center will once again host this flagship celebration of Black lived experiences, bringing together local artists, cultural storytellers, and community leaders to honor historical legacy and contemporary contributions in the Green Mountain State. The event aims to amplify voices often underrepresented in Vermont’s public memory.

A Vermont school district agreed to pay $250,000 to settle claims that it discriminated against Black students, marking a historic resolution in favor of educational equity.
The Windham Central Supervisory Union reached the settlement after lawsuits alleged that Black students were disproportionately disciplined, highlighted unequal educational opportunities and prompted calls for systemic change in how schools treat students of color.
