ABOUT
-
Jessica “Bleu Stevens” Kelley is an ethnically Black American documentarian, writer, and ethnographic storyteller.
Her work sits at the intersection of history, media, and lived experience, documenting Black American life as it is actually encountered — not only when it is sanctioned, televised, or officially recognized.
This project was created out of the belief that Black America deserves a record that reflects continuity, memory, and presence, rather than fragmentation.
This site is both personal and collective.
A diary and a public record. This project is ongoing.

This is a record of being Black in America. Each entry is dated by the day it is written, not always the day the event occurred.
We aim to expose and combat the ethnic cleansing of Black American people.
We inform Black people of diverse ethnic backgrounds living within the United States about issues that directly impact them.
This site documents what Black America is experiencing, realizing, mourning, celebrating, and reckoning with in real time. Some events happened days, months, or even years earlier. Others are unfolding now. All are recorded when they become present.
We are creating a ledger of what is happening, state by state, as it enters collective awareness.
