Harlem is about to open New York City’s first museum dedicated to the civil rights movement — and it’s not just looking at the South.
The Urban Civil Rights Museum, led by National Urban League president Marc Morial and slated to open in 2026 inside the new Urban League Empowerment Center, will spotlight the fight for justice in Northern cities, from housing discrimination and policing to education and economic exclusion, while inviting visitors to become what Morial calls “agents of change.”
